After record breaking sold-out seasons in 2012, 2013 and 2014 at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Sydney Comedy Festival, Brisbane Comedy Festival and Perth International Comedy Festival, Malaysian Chinese comedian Ronny Chieng is taking his critically-acclaimed one-hour show Chieng Reaction to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur in September.

Chieng Reaction is Chieng’s third solo show having made a rapid ascent in the comedy world over the past 4 years. He is one of the leaders of a new generation of comics in Australia.

A 2009 commercial/law graduate of Melbourne University, Chieng practiced for six months before turning his hand to stand up. He’s not looked back.

Currently residing in Melbourne in Australia, Chieng won the 2012 MICF’s Best Newcomer award and followed it up with a Best Show nomination at the 2013 Sydney Comedy Festival.

He has performed twice at the prestigious invitation-only Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal including the Eddie Izzard Gala, played the 2013 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the Sydney Opera House and also sold out a 2-week season at London’s SOHO Theatre. Chieng this year picked up the Directors’ Choice Award at the prestigious 2014 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, as well as the Best of the Fest (Local) Award for best show at this year’s Sydney Comedy Festival.

Chieng’s growing TV credits in Australia over the past year have included ABC1’s comedy series’ Problems, It’s a Date, Dirty Laundry Live and Tractor Monkeys; Network Ten’s MICF Opening Gala 2013; Wil Anderson’s Montreal Just For Laughs special for Seven; and most
recently, SBS1’s Legally Brown.
